The University of Alabama at Birmingham will host a two-day training course to teach proactive survival strategies in violent intruder or active shooter situations to representatives of businesses and institutions March 21 and 22.
The upcoming session, hosted by UAB Police, is designed to teach instructors, who will then go back to their sending organizations to administer further training.
The ALICE training — which stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evacuate — is designed for law enforcement officials as well as school, church, hospital and workplace administrators and employees. The program is designed to provide training that will bridge the gap between the time a violent event begins and law enforcement arrives.
The course will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at the University Business Office Building, located at 1201 University Ave., in Room 208.Registration is $595 per participant.
