Stephen Pickett, MPH, has been appointed chief financial officer for the UAB Health System. His duties include executive responsibility for Health System Information Services, the Managed Services Organization, Health System Finance, and Health System Operations. In addition to these responsibilities, Pickett will guide the plan of finance for the anticipated Diagnostic and Treatment Hospital facility.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Stephen Pickett, MPH, has been appointed chief financial officer for the UAB Health System. His duties include executive responsibility for Health System Information Services, the Managed Services Organization, Health System Finance, and Health System Operations. In addition to these responsibilities, Pickett will guide the plan of finance for the anticipated Diagnostic and Treatment Hospital facility.

Pickett comes to UAB from the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation, where he has served as vice president for administration and finance since 1998. Prior to that, he was president and chief executive officer of Tulane University Hospital and Clinic in New Orleans. During his tenure there, he guided the management and medical staff in the transition to a new limited liability corporation between Tulane University and Columbia/HCA.

 

Prior to his tenure as president, Pickett served for four years as administrator of the Tulane Medical Center Hospital and Clinic. His responsibilities there included all operating areas, plus finance and information systems. Previously, he had served as executive vice president and administrator of the West Virginia Hospitals in Morgantown, West Virginia, and as vice president for financial services at Medical Center East.

 

A Birmingham native, Pickett received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with honors, from the University of Montevallo and a Master of Public Health degree from Tulane.
