School of Medicine Announces Award Winners

The School of Medicine at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) presented awards to the graduating Class of 2000 at its annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, May 21. The Hugh J. Dempsey Memorial Award, the highest award given based on academic achievement over the entire four years of study went to Lisa Janelle Rushchak.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — The School of Medicine at UAB (University of Alabama at Birmingham) presented awards to the graduating Class of 2000 at its annual Honors Convocation on Sunday, May 21. The Hugh J. Dempsey Memorial Award, the highest award given based on academic achievement over the entire four years of study went to Lisa Janelle Rushchak.

Other school-wide awards include the Alumni Award for Leadership and Community Service to Manisha V. Patel; the Medical Assurance Award for Excellence in Patient Communications to Amy Martinec Billings; and the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey Award to F. Cleveland Kinney, M.D. and Amy Martinec Billings.

The Dean’s Award for the Birmingham Campus went to Lisa Janelle Rushchak. The Huntsville campus Dean’s award went to Joseph Emory Mobley while the William R. Willard Dean’s Award from the Tuscaloosa campus was presented to John Bryan Waits. Other awards are:
