Eric P. Jack, Ph.D., will join the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Business in Fall 2001 as an assistant professor in the department of management, marketing and industrial distribution.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Eric P. Jack, Ph.D., will join the faculty of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Business in Fall 2001 as an assistant professor in the department of management, marketing and industrial distribution.

Jack comes to UAB from the University of Cincinnati, where he spent the last year as a visiting professor of operations management and taught classes, including production planning and scheduling, operations management, project management and supply chain management.

“I am pleased to be joining the UAB School of Business Faculty,” Jack said. “I look forward to getting into the classroom to begin working with the students.”

“Eric’s employment and teaching experience is an asset to UAB,” says Michael Bowers, Ph.D. chair of the management, marketing and industrial distribution department. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and a diverse background to the table that will help educate our students and well prepare them for the workforce.”

Jack earned his doctorate in Operations, Management from the University of Cincinnati, earned an MBA from Wright State University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech.

Jack has worked as an industrial engineer, logistics manager and strategic planner and has more than 20 years of experience as a project engineer and manager in the facility maintenance, design and construction arena. He also worked as an instructor and course director at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Jack retired from active duty as a major in the U.S. Air Force in September 1996.
