BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Joy and hope, camaraderie and faith, and triumph over adversity will be on full display when the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Comprehensive Cancer Center and an all-star collaboration of cancer organizations host the inaugural survivors day event "Celebrating Life" at Pepper Place Saturday Market June 5.

A designated National Cancer Survivors Day event, Celebrating Life will take place from 7 a.m. to noon during the Saturday Market at 2829 2nd Ave. South. For more information, visit www.uab.edu/survivorsday or call 205-975-2952.

Cancer survivors, their families, friends and caregivers can meet each other and farmers and vendors who base their livelihoods on healthy living. The event will feature local and regional home-grown fruits, vegetables, flowers and homemade breads and sweets. Survivors and their guests can listen to live music and watch cooking demonstrations by Culinard, The Culinary Institute of Virginia College and get gardening tips from The Gardener's Gallery.
