The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society (NAS) will present “Uncork Education,” a wine-tasting and fund-raising event, from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at Flower Stems, 213 Richard Arrington Blvd. The event, which is in its second year, will feature wines from around the world, live music and the chance to bid on items in a silent auction.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) National Alumni Society (NAS) will present "Uncork Education," a wine-tasting and fund-raising event, from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at Flower Stems, 213 Richard Arrington Blvd. The event, which is in its second year, will feature wines from around the world, live music and the chance to bid on items in a silent auction.

Proceeds from will benefit UAB student scholarships. This past year's event raised more than $10,000.

Tickets are $30 each; $50 per couple. Sponsorships for "Uncork Education" also are available. For tickets, sponsorships or more information, call the UAB Alumni Affairs office at 205-934-3555.

In 2009, the UAB National Alumni Society provided more than $750,000 in scholarships, grants and gifts to the university.
