Four University of Alabama at Birmingham students have been awarded the 2010-11 Aaron Lamar Jr. Scholarships for outstanding leadership.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four University of Alabama at Birmingham students have been awarded the 2010-11 Aaron Lamar Jr. Scholarships for outstanding leadership.

The students are Henry B. Briggs III, Swapna Kakani, Brianna Knott and Brian Mahabee.

Briggs, of Grove Hill, Ala., is a senior majoring in biology. He is the son of Henry Briggs Jr. and Gwen Briggs. Kakani, of Huntsville, Ala., is a junior majoring in bio-psychology. She is the daughter of Babu and Dr. Krishna Kakani.

Knott, of Lisman, is a junior majoring in biology. She is the daughter of Toby and JoAnne Knott. Mahabee, of Jamaica, is a junior majoring in mathematics. He is the son of Fitzgerald and Phyllis Mahabee.
