University Honors Program

Founded in 1983, the University Honors Program is the original undergraduate honors program at UAB. Our nationally acclaimed interdisciplinary arts and sciences curriculum (33 credit hours) replaces a student's core curriculum (41 credit hours), the only exception to the core curriculum in the state of Alabama. See the Curriculum page for more details.

Since all incoming undergraduate students are required to complete the core regardless of their major, the University Honors Program is open to all majors. Unlike many honors programs whose requirements are added to core and major requirements, our curriculum replaces the core curriculum and therefore participation in our honors program in no way delays progress towards your degree.
