Professors from six schools and a college were awarded CTL-QEP Teaching Innovation Grants to support new approaches to instruction and learning in a team environment. In total, faculty received $34,705 for the development and execution of their proposals.
Proposals to support teaching innovation and group development of new approaches/techniques related to improving instruction and learning are being solicited. Awards range from $2000-$5000 based upon scope and the number of faculty involved. Multiple awards will be made based upon the quality of applications and availability of funds.

Anthony C. Hood, Ph.D., Jenelle Hodges, Ph.D., and Annetta Dolowitz are the newest fellows added to the office of the University Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). These UAB faculty will join four other QEP Fellows in helping to deliver educational content that will include presenting seminars and interactive workshops, providing peer mentoring with faculty who want to enhance their courses, and developing other activities to enhance the QEP.
A new advisory council has been created to provide cross-campus feedback on the progress of the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) with representation from all UAB academic schools and colleges, student government, faculty senate and some administrative units.
This class illustrates a new approach to instruction and learning in a team environment — the key element of the university’s Quality Enhancement Plan — and this work is partly funded by a CTL-QEP Teaching Innovation and Development Award which was used to purchase new equipment, such as a camera to document the results.

Dale A. Dickinson, Ph.D., an associate professor in the School of Public Health, has been selected as the director for UAB’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Learning in a Team Environment.” Dickinson begins this position on May 1.
