1LT Zachary B. Caldwell grew up in Mounds, Oklahoma. He joined the Oklahoma State University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) in 2018 and graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, with Summa Cum Laude Honors, and a double Minor in Intelligence and Security Analysis and Military Science. He was named a Distinguished Military Graduate and received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry.

1LT Caldwell served as a Hometown Recruiter prior to attending and graduating the Infantry Basic Officer Leader Course in 2023. His first assignment was to the 11th Airborne Division at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, serving as a Light Infantry Platoon leader with 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment “Blockhouse.” During his time there, 1LT Caldwell participated in various training exercises, including multiple Joint Pacific Maritime Readiness Center (JPMRC) rotations and traveled to India to conduct the Yuhd Abbas 23 training exercise with the Indian Army.

1LT Caldwell currently serves as the Patton Intern for the University of Alabama at Birmingham ROTC. He is a graduate of the Air Assault and the Cold Weather Orientation Courses. His awards include the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Expert Infantryman Badge.

1LT Caldwell is married to Amanda Caldwell, and they and their son Hudson (6mo) currently reside in Helena, Alabama.
