Addiction touches almost every family in Alabama, as well as the rest of the United States when considering the impact of tobacco smoking, alcohol use, opioid use, and overdose, or other illicit drug use. Similarly, most people will experience acute pain, and many will develop chronic pain, over the course of their lifetime. The interaction between pain and addiction is significant and interactive, leading to poor quality of life and death.
