The Department of Social Work welcomes three new clinical faculty members, Quachetta Jones, Jacqueline Jones, and Tommie Watkins. They began teaching this fall.

Quachetta Jones, MSW

Quachetta Jones, MSW

Quachetta Jones, MSW, received her BSW from UAB and her MSW from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Jones is a licensed social worker with 10 years of practice experience. She has been a credentialed course instructor with the department for five years. Outside of teaching, Mrs. Jones mentors graduate-level social workers and provides psychotherapy to clients in her practice.


Jacqueline Jones, MSW

Jacqueline Jones, MSW

Jacqueline Jones, MSW, earned her BSW and MSW degrees from the University of Alabama. Mrs. Jones is a licensed independent clinical social worker, and her research and teaching interests are in the areas of child welfare, homelessness, medical social work, and social work education. She began her career as a medical social worker but has served in many different capacities, including having extensive experience with social work field education.


Tommie Watkins, Ph.D.

Tommie Watkins, Ph.D.

Tommie Watkins, Ph.D., obtained his B.S. degree in Aeronautical Science/Mathematics from Embry-Riddle University, his MSW from the University of Alabama, and his doctorate in Public Health from UAB. Dr. Watkins also graduated from the General Theological Seminary of the Episcopal Church, New York City, Cum Laude with a Master of Divinity. He is a licensed social worker, spiritual director and counselor, and a licensed multi-engine rated commercial pilot. Dr. Watkins has served as a credentialed course instructor for the Department of Social Work, the African American Studies program, and the Department of Mathematics since 2007. When he is not teaching, he enjoys flying, reading, writing, and traveling.
