The UAB Marching Blazers, part of the Department of Music, will have several opportunities to perform their show “Hollywood,” says Interim Director of Bands Gene Fambrough, DMA. One of the highlights will be performing at the Green and Gold Game at BBVA Compass Field on October 20.

“Our show will feature famous music from the movies ‘Back to the Future,’ James Bond, ‘Mission: Impossible,’ ‘Canned Heat’ from ‘Napoleon Dynamite,’ ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Star Trek,’” Fambrough says. “There will be snippets from other movies inserted into the show for the enterprising listener. We’re working to have someone perform Napoleon’s dance to ‘Canned Heat’ for that part of the show.”

In addition to the Green and Gold game, The Marching Blazers have also been invited to march in the World Peace Parade in Rome, Italy, for the New Year’s Day celebration. About 50 members of the band will travel to Italy to participate.
