STUDENT ENRICHMENT

Funding provided for student enrichment will be used to ensure unique student experiences, such as undergraduate research and graduate fellowships. Investments made for scholarships will also make a significant difference in the lives of students by providing them with opportunities they might otherwise not have and affording them the advantage of preparing for future success in their lives and careers. The young men and women who will benefit from your generosity have the potential for greatness, and your gift will help ensure their success.

FACULTY SUPPORT

Exceptional faculty is at the heart of any great institution. The talented faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences are conducting leading-edge research and engaging in novel scholarship, earning them prestigious honors including NSF CAREER Awards and Guggenheim and Humboldt distinctions. Research acceleration funding advances the vast initiatives of the College of Arts and Sciences and provides resources to recognize outstanding faculty achievements—important resources for developing and sustaining faculty talent. Fundamentally, faculty support enhances the mission and strategic goals of the university, the college and its departments.

RESEARCH AND FACILITIES

From poetry to pain management, from music to marine biology, from art history to autism, the fields of study in the College of Arts and sciences are both broad and deep. No matter your passion, there is a project to which you can connect, and in which you can make a difference. Facilities are also critical to ensuring our faculty and students are successful. PROGRAMS

Partnerships across campus are so important in creating programs that offer students practical, marketable skills. Two of our most popular and promising are Neuroscience and UABTeach. Neuroscience is multidisciplinary and draws from a number of scientific fields including medicine, biology, psychology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and engineering, and beyond. The undergraduate neuroscience program helps fill this demand by preparing a new generation of students who will succeed in a career in academic or government research, medicine, biotechnology in industry, and other health-related sciences. NEW BUILDING TAKES SHAPE

We continue to move forward on plans for our new academic building and plan to break ground in early 2017. The building will transform the College’s physical footprint as well as provide our outstanding faculty and students a state-of-the-art environment in which they can grow their scholarship and research. We are grateful for our partners who are working diligently on a master plan that ensures our campus is beautiful and efficient. Look for more updates on the building, including design details and giving opportunities, in our Fall 2016 issue.
