I was born and grew up in Nevada, Iowa as the last of 5 children. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Scott, and we have 2 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I started my post-high school education 10 years out of high school and received an Associate of Arts degree in Legal Assistance in 1994. I worked as a Legal Assistant for 23 years. We moved to Clay, Alabama in 2010 for my husband’s job. After a few years, I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, graduating from UAB in 2019. I started working for UAB in Grants and Contracts Accounting. While working there, I took advantage of UAB’s employee assistance program and went back to get a Masters of Public Administration degree in 2022. I changed jobs a few months prior to graduation and started working in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations office at the School of Nursing, then in 2024, I transferred to where I am now in Grants Development, Review, and Management at the School of Nursing. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with our son, daughter, and grandchildren, reading and traveling. I am looking forward to retirement in about 3 ½ years and plan on moving further south to enjoy the beaches and warmer weather.
