Board Member
Melissa Niven Sherer serves as a nonprofit consultant helping mission-driven organizations overcome barriers to success. Since 2008, she has engaged in program management, federal grants management, juvenile justice reform, education, leadership development, and advocacy. Her journey has included director-level roles in both local government and nonprofit organizations.
Birmingham is home for Melissa. She earned a B.S. in Organizational Leadership from the University of Mobile and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Melissa also serves on the board of directors for the Children’s Policy Cooperative of Jefferson County. She is a member of Leadership Alabama’s ALI Class III.
Melissa and her husband, Jeremy, are the proud parents of two teenagers.
