Position: Sabbatical Opportunity – Disability and Health Research

""The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is excited to announce a unique sabbatical opportunity for faculty from other universities. Collaborate with us at the WHARF (Wellness, Health and Research Facility) as we work towards promoting inclusion in research, implementation science and practice. Work with NCHPAD, CEDHARS, M2M and RecTech to make a meaningful impact in the field of disability and health.

NCHPAD and CEDHARS are two sides of the same coin at the forefront of disability health and rehabilitation science. CDC-funded NCHPAD provides online wellness programs for people with disabilities across the U.S., while CEDHARS is one of the prestigious University-Wide Research Centers focused on scientific discoveries and solutions that impact the lives of people with disabilities. NCHPAD has a national registry (NCHPAD Connect) of people with disabilities, and the sabbatical recipient will be able to conduct secondary data analyses using this dataset.

Project Overview

Under the guidance of Dr. James Rimmer, this sabbatical opportunity involves working on a disability-related project of interest. The focus is on fostering innovation, collaboration and research excellence in the pursuit of inclusive practices. The selected candidate will contribute to our ongoing efforts to elevate visibility and understanding of disability and health.

Responsibilities

  • Promote inclusion in research, science and practice through strategic outreach.
  • Contribute to the ongoing projects of NCHPAD, CEDHARS, M2M and RecTech.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D., MD, or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Expertise in disability and health research.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
