Exciting news! Just heard that the National Alumni Society has announced the recipients of the 2018 UAB Young Alumni Rising Star Awards. Former CPCTP trainee, Dr. Michelle Cardel, is one of the five winners. She will be honored during a reception at AEIVA on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 5:30 pm. 

Dr. Cardel is an assistant professor and nutrition and obesity researcher in the Department of Health Outcomes & Biomedical Informatics at the University of Florida (UF), where she is also the Associate Director for the Center for Integrative Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and founder and director of UF’s Obesity Research Alliance. Her research is focused on understanding factors that contribute to the development of obesity and implementing effective weight loss treatment programs for obesity in underserved populations. Her specialties include nutrition, pediatric and adult obesity, weight management, psychosocial factors.
