Susan graduated from UAB with a Master of Arts in Education in ESL and from Samford University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and minor in Journalism/Mass Communication.

She has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in a variety of educational settings over the years. She taught ESL in K-12 settings in Jefferson County Schools and Birmingham City Schools. She served as the Assistant Director and ESL Instructor at Samford University’s English Language Learner Institute. For many years, she was the Program Manager for UAB’s English Language Programs, while also serving as academic advisor to international students in the programs.

Susan truly enjoys serving to support the success of people and programs. She desires in her role as Program Manager II, to foster an environment “that supports and encourages academic, professional and personal development for UAB students, faculty, and staff!”
