Are you a graduate student or post-doctoral scholar planning towards a career in teaching? Teaching is like any other skill—it has to be learned and honed over time. Start preparing for your career today through the Center for Teaching and Learning’s LIFT (Lean Into Future Teaching) series, co-sponsored by the UAB Graduate School.

The first topic this semester is “Principles of Good Teaching,” presented by Stacey Cofield, PhD, on Wednesday, January 28, from 12-1:30 PM. The workshop will explore foundational, evidence-based principles that support effective instruction, addressing common barriers to good teaching and strategies to overcome them while strengthening confidence and instructional impact.

Participants who complete eight workshops in the program will receive a LIFT certificate from the Center for Teaching and Learning to demonstrate their engagement with learning about good teaching practice.

The response to the LIFT series from participants has been robust. "I really liked that the engaging activities mirrored the type [of] engagement we should aim for in our classes," said one participant. "I would highly recommend and [am] grateful to UAB for the opportunity."

Do you teach or mentor someone for whom this would be a great opportunity? Pass this along to them!

Lunch will be provided for those who register in advance!
