UAB eLearning, in collaboration with other units across campus, offers an exciting and informative series of workshops primarily focused on online and hybrid/blended course design and teaching, Universal Design for Learning, and Teaching Tools (Academic Technologies).
Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Certificates
Certification affirms that a UAB faculty member has participated in significant professional development in teaching through CTL-hosted workshops, teaching observations, development of teaching materials, and other approved activities that strengthen and develop teaching skills.

Magna Digital Library
Offers on-demand versions of Magna's most popular Magna Online Seminars, covering a broad range of topics of interest to faculty and administrators.
The Journal of Faculty Development (JFD)
Provides on-demand faculty development resources, including scholarly journals. This resource can be accessed on Igenta website without a Magna account while on UAB's internet or VPN.
Quality Matters
Quality Matters (QM) provides on-site, online, and web conferencing professional development opportunities to a broad audience including instructional designers, faculty, administrators, adjunct instructors, and more! Regardless of your role, you will discover that QM has the tools needed to ensure your online courses are quality courses.
Online Learning Consortium
UAB is an Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Institutional Member. Institutional benefits include the following: Up to 30 individuals from UAB may enjoy workshops, conference and publication discounts, research, and interaction with other OLC members. Individuals must setup their own account with OLC.
Awards and Recognition
eLearning Certificates
Attendance in eLearning workshops can earn you one or both eLearning Certificates. The two eLearning certificate tracks are Online Design and Teaching Certificate and Teaching Tools Certificate.
Transformative Online Courses (TOC)
The Provost’s Awards for Transformative Online Courses (TOC) recognize online courses developed by UAB faculty that exemplify best practices and innovation in online education.
