Applying to the Sustainable Smart Cities Program

Entry Requirements

Student using a computer mouse

  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution of higher education in an appropriate subject or related science, including but not limited to Urban Design and Planning, Political Science, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Public Health, Social Sciences, Criminal Justice, Information and Communication Technology, or Engineering will be considered for the program.
  • Candidates with related employment or substantial industrial experience with a demonstrable interest in or commitment to urban planning, sustainability and environmental management issues, and/or smart city approaches will also be considered.
  • Candidates must schedule an interview with the program director
  • International students without a degree from an accredited US institution may be required to submit TOEFL scores based on the interview with program directors. GRE is not required.

The Application

To start your application, create a login and secure password, accept the Terms and Conditions, and select the application for Graduate Degree Seeking and Certificate.

Fill in relevant information:

  • educational background (official transcripts must be sent)
  • personal essay - a very brief response as to why you are interested in the program
  • three references who will reply to an online request
  • no GRE, TOFEL required

Note:  If prompted, your program is housed within the School of Engineering, Civil Engineering, MEng in Sustainable Smart Cities.
