There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, February 11th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.
Chair of the Faculty, Ria Hearld will give her monthly report. UAB President, Ray Watts, will give his winter update along with Q&A and faculty collaboration session. Chris Brown, Vice President for Research will present a collaboration session regarding the state of UAB research, IRAP & IRB. Tami Long, Director, UAB Employee Assistance and Counseling Center, will present a collaboration session regarding the Employee Assistance Program, counseling and wellness-Resources available to staff & faculty. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.
The Senate will elect a replacement Senator-at-Large on the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. Claudio Busettini, Associate Chair of the Faculty Senate, will give an update regarding Faculty Senate elections and the nominations phase. Karen Cropsey, Chair of the Faculty Development Grant Program, will give an update.
Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared.
An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions and to make suggestions regarding items that the various Faculty Senate Standing Committees should address, is also on the agenda.
A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7am.
If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
For the Open Forum and Q&A/Faculty input portions of the meeting: You may raise your question or comment by raising your hand or you may text it to a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee (number will be furnished at meeting), for them to raise anonymously on your behalf.
