Abstract

In this session, panelists will explore the impact of accessible design on learners of all abilities. Informed by their work in disability services and technology accessibility, panelists will discuss barriers presented by inaccessible design and share strategies for creating inclusive and accessible learning opportunities. Participants will leave the session with a fuller understanding of the access needs of students with disabilities and resources to help them ensure access for all.

Presenters

Melissa Green, UA Office of Information Technology
Melissa Green is a Technology Accessibility Training Specialist at The University of Alabama, where she helps to ensure that technology users, including those with disabilities, have a functional and accessible technology experience with the university's web presence and instructional and emerging technologies.

Brittanny Gregg, UA Office of Disability Services
Brittany Gregg is Assistant Director of The University of Alabama's Office of Disability Services. The central point of contact for students with disabilities at the university, ODS collaborates with students and instructors to provide reasonable and appropriate accommodations in the classroom.

Seth Lawlor, UA Office of Disability Services
Seth Lawlor is an Assistive Technology Specialist in the The University of Alabama's Office of Disability Services. His work includes providing electronic versions of textbooks and other printed documents in formats that allow students to access their readings in a way that works best for them.
