Human Resources has piloted a Compensation Calculator tool to provide salary offer guidance to hiring managers and to ensure employee and job equity within UAB based on job market value and the candidates experience and education level, referenced as “experience credit.”

During the past several weeks, the Compensation Calculator was introduced to the Org Administrators/Executive Administrators and a soft launch occurred resulting in positive feedback. Effective May 15, 2023, the Compensation Calculator is being utilized for all schools and departments with current and new job postings in Workforce A.

Previously, hiring managers could offer a candidate a salary within the full pay range without a salary CRF. Hiring managers will now partner with their recruiter to develop a salary “swim lane” using the Compensation Calculator that is based on the candidate’s experience credit.

Situations requiring a salary outside this “swim lane” will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. For more information, see the Compensation Guidelines webpage or reach out to HR Compensation.
