UAB IT is streamlining the way that email attachments are scanned, allowing you to receive emails more quickly. Dynamic Delivery for Safe Attachments, to be enabled on Friday, May 22, will help emails arrive faster while keeping you protected from malicious files.
With Dynamic Delivery, emails with attachments are delivered to your inbox immediately, and attachments are scanned for security risks in the background before they can be opened.
What You Can Expect
- Faster email delivery: You can read and respond to messages right away.
- Attachment scanning: Attachments may briefly appear as “scanning” or unavailable when the email first arrives.
- Automatic availability: Once scanning is complete, safe attachments become available automatically.
- Strong security: Attachments are still fully scanned before they can be opened.
What happens if an attachment is unsafe?
- It is blocked automatically and cannot be opened or downloaded.
- In some cases, the attachment may disappear or show a message indicating it was removed for security reasons.
- UAB IT is notified and will investigate as needed.
- You do not need to take any action to stay protected.
If You Think an Attachment Was Blocked by Mistake
- Do not try to bypass security controls or resend the attachment.
- Contact contact AskIT and and provide:
- The sender’s email address
- The email subject line
- The approximate date and time you received the message
- A brief description of the attachment
UAB IT will review the attachment and release it if it is confirmed to be safe.
