Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba officially proclaimed May 13, 2026, as Live HealthSmart Alabama Day during the Dothan City Commission Meeting on May 5, recognizing the organization’s commitment to improving health and wellness across Alabama communities.
The proclamation commemorates the official launch of Live HealthSmart Alabama in Dothan and highlights the initiative’s efforts to make good health simple and accessible through free health screenings, education, preventive care resources, and community partnerships.
“We’re excited to have this program in our city, and to collaborate with UAB,” said Saliba. “Thank you for being part of our community.”
Teresa Shufflebarger, MSHA, MBA, FACHE, Chief Administrative Officer for Live HealthSmart Alabama, attended the meeting and spoke about the importance of community collaboration in advancing long-term health outcomes.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of the Dothan community,” said Shufflebarger. “A focus on chronic disease is a focus on the health of our communities. Knowing your numbers is an important first step to owning your health, and to a healthier Dothan.”
Live HealthSmart Alabama, a transformative initiative of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, works alongside communities across the state to address health risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol through sustainable, community-driven solutions.
By expanding into Dothan, Live HealthSmart Alabama continues its mission of making good health simple for all Alabamians.
