Explore UAB

The purpose of the CNC Mental Disorders Pillar is to bring together researchers across UAB and beyond to provide a common platform to promote collaborative basic, clinical, and translational research in a broad spectrum of psychiatric disorders across the life span, which include, but are not limited to, affective illnesses, psychosis, substance use disorders, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, and suicidal behavior. One of our key aims is to generate and develop innovative ideas that can be transformed into multi-investigator pilot projects, NIH-supported multi-PI R01s or Program Projects (full scale specialized center grants; P50 Centers) around common themes. Another goal is also to identify unique resources within and outside of individual departments/labs (e.g., Depression and Suicide Center, Center for Clinical and Translational Science, Neuroimaging, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics) and incorporate them in the research plan.
