I'm from Madison, AL, which is about 10 minutes away from Space Camp in Huntsville. Although I thought I was going to be an astronaut until I was 12, I eventually found my way to Emergency Medicine. I came to UAB for college and fell in love with Birmingham so much I wanted to stay for medical school and eventually residency, making me a triple Blazer. Birmingham is truly a hidden gem in the south with tons of culture, great food, and outdoor activities at an incredible cost of living. UAB has some of the highest acuity patients in the country, but even more importantly the attendings, other residents, nurses, and staff are truly great educators and great people on and off shift. I have a dog named Juno (not intentionally named after the pregnant girl) who has a big personality and tons of energy. On my days off you can catch me hiking with her on our local trails, playing trivia at the local breweries, or watching Chopped with my husband.
