Bio
My wife and I are from Atlanta but we moved to Augusta, GA when I went to medical school. We liked the people in Augusta a lot but knew we needed a change for residency. We had two kids (Wilder and Ezrah) at the time and they needed a better fit. UAB was low on my list at first because I thought all of AL was rural and uninteresting but I had never been to Birmingham. My wife encouraged me to check it out over a spring break and I instantly fell in love. The school and the people are amazing. I did a rotation here and UAB was number one after that with no doubt in our minds. Beyond that, we love raising a family here. We now have a third baby (Shepherd) and Birmingham has been such a blessing for us. My residency family was there for us through some hard times during our pregnancy. Our church family has been indescribable. This city has so much to offer for families but just to name a few: the most amazing libraries that are FREE, they host FREE shows and FREE dinners, the children's museum is so good my wife and I want to go without our kids, the zoo is super easy, and you know the food scene isn't half bad. That last part is a joke, the food is amazing.
