Bio
I grew up on a small island in the middle of the pacific ocean named Kwajalein! I play 7 different wind instruments, play soccer, and have 8 cats (which grew from 5 when I started residency...P.S. this is also my husbands fault!). Our PD/APDs want nothing more than our success and happiness and have a pure desire to constantly improve things and they always listen/open to feedback. Shift lengths are great, you get much more weekend free-time, which is amazing. I appreciate the way we do sign-out which allows you to not have to stay super long after shift every day, and your co-residents also do their best to follow up on things so that you can get out of shift on time. Also.....DRAGON. Dragon dictation is EVERYTHING, it's been literally the best thing ever, and we have it for use for all years!! I also love the POD system and that you direct easy access to each patient’s room, especially when you have sick patients, also walking takes time and this saves time ha. I also enjoy good relationships with off service rotations, sick patient population, lots of mentorship for any interest, opportunities to work with medical students, opportunities to take leadership roles in residency/hospital committees. Bham for also has a bomb food/brewery scene and literally every type of outdoor activity is at your fingertips like the lakes, ocean, mountains, as well as great housing options super close to the hospital. My husband and I now have two Waverunners soooo we can take those to the lake and have some fun! I am interested in doing a palliative fellowship and working overseas back in the Marshall Islands and eventually returning to Alabama.
