UCEM's exercise-based research studies are focused on optimizing exercise treatments for specific groups of individuals. UCEM’s aim, in the long run, is for medical practitioners and public health officials to recommend specific exercise routines – backed up by research – for various injuries, diseases and chronic conditions. In support of this goal, UCEM has supported exercise-based research studies related to hypertension, aging, Parkinson’s Disease, Epilepsy, Sickle Cell Disease and Cardiovascular Disease.

UCEM also serves in the Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity Consortium (MoTrPAC), a national research consortium funded by the National Institute of Health. MoTrPAC’s goal is to study the molecular changes that occur during and after exercise and ultimately to advance the understanding of how physical activity improves and preserves health.
