    What are your healthcare goals?
A goal I have for my medical education is to learn how to be a good steward of my degree and use my abilities to help others. I am especially interested in learning as much as I can about how underserved patients navigate the healthcare system so that I can better assist them. I would love to be a physician that makes others feel comfortable in the healthcare setting, as it can be an uneasy experience for many people.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
I think by getting a jump start on working with underserved patients, I will be able to start practicing medicine with a different mindset than many of my peers. I would love to know more about the ins and outs of accessing healthcare before I begin to practice so that I am more prepared to assist my patients in their health journey.

    Fun Fact
I was on the Auburn University Marching Band Flagline for three years in undergrad!

    What are your healthcare goals?
I have always been drawn to improving community health, advocating for preventative care, and to the fight for health equity. For these reasons, I am looking towards a career in primary care where I can serve as the home base for patients navigating their healthcare journey.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
Addressing health inequities, especially in the South, is at the core of my desire to become a physician. I have sought out many educational experiences to help me understand what role physicians can play in this effort. Up until this point, I have felt like my education had left that question unanswered. Now, the CU2RE: U2P program is equipping me with skills and experiences that will help me empower those who have historically been left behind by our healthcare system in my future career.

    What are your healthcare goals?
My greatest hope in practicing medicine is to walk alongside vulnerable populations to provide care that is mindful of health beyond clinic walls and that honors the inherent dignity of each individual.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
The CU2RE:U2P program is an opportunity to deepen my understanding of health disparities throughout my time in medical school by way of module-based learning, hands-on clinical and research experience, and relationships with colleagues who share similar missions for healthcare. It is an opportunity to go beyond the classroom of science and medicine to stay grounded in my "why" for pursuing medicine to begin with; giving of self to others through medicine, especially to those often overlooked in society.

    Fun Fact
My favorite food groups are cereal and ice cream.

    What are your healthcare goals?
I would love to work at an academic center where I can work with medical students. As a first-generation student from a modest background, I am known to be fiery in my advocacy for medical education reform and the retention of underrepresented medical students.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
The CU2RE program is providing me with invaluable training opportunities and access to mentors who constantly remind me why we are embarking on this training path. They are selfless, creative and supportive. As an MD/MPH student, I was looking for opportunities that would bridge the learning gap between my public health and medical curriculum. When I was first recruited for the program, I was open about being unsure what specialty I would be applying to in the future. The most clarity I had then was that I wanted to learn how to make the healthcare system “work” for my most vulnerable patients. Through the 10-patient panel that I will be “co-doctoring” with my mentor, Dr. Marsh, I am confident that I will leave UAB with that precise skillset and more.

    What are your healthcare goals?
I want to ensure that my medical education is enriched with opportunities that work to gain skills in teaching health literacy and encouraging patient agency. My hope for my legacy is that, through my calling, I can highlight patient narratives as a fundamental step in providing adequate healthcare, while also lessening the gap of social inequalities in medicine by motivating marginalized groups to feel powerful about their health lives.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
I appreciate that CU2RE:U2P equips us with important modules that directly teaches us how to stand as future physician-leaders in social medicine. I also really love that we are entrusted and gifted with patients to establish a longitudinal relationship with them during our medical school career. For every month over the next four years, I get the blessing of befriending and advocating for ten patients at Cahaba West End -- which I know will really shape my learning as a student and my trajectory as a community-inspired physician.

In college, I traveled to Nicaragua and climbed up a volcano to look down at its center.

    What are your healthcare goals?
One of my main goals for my medical education is to learn how to care for people in real time with excellence and humility. I want to hold patient's hands and help them heal, encourage them, and offer them hope. Physical needs do not paint the whole picture when caring for others, but they can certainly have a monumental effect on a person's life, and I want to be equipped to take on the challenges associated with fighting back against sickness and disease to improve the lives of my future patients.

Another one of my goals is to develop the skills to conduct population based research and carry out a project to fruition that will address the problems I will see in the clinic during my time in the CU2RE:U2P program.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
The CU2RE:U2P program is able to provide access to patients while under the direct mentorship of excellent clinicians. It is real-time experience caring for populations that are often overlooked and underserved. I'm also thrilled to be working with a group of students and faculty committed to these same things, and I know I will grow as a student and future physician from the conversations we will have in the program. I also know the program will provide a way to conduct research and foster an encouraging environment throughout my time here.

    What are your healthcare goals?
I would love to serve an underserved community by offering comprehensive healthcare and teaching members of the community about health, fitness, and how to best care for their body and mind.

How will the CU2RE program help you acheive these goals?
This program will give me hands-on experience dealing with common challenges that patients face and is helping me build a network of healthcare workers who can teach me and share my goals and values.
