The UAB Glomerular Kidney Disease Clinic is a sub-specialized clinic dedicated for the care of patients with rare glomerular diseases. Based at the Kirklin Clinic, our physicians provide comprehensive clinical evaluations of patients with these diagnoses and offer treatment options including access to ongoing clinical therapeutic trials.

Patients are offered the opportunity to participate in ongoing translational and observational research studies to help advance the science and our understanding of these rare diseases.

The clinic also provides a structured program for the education of post-doctoral trainees in the recognition and management of rare glomerular kidney diseases. This ensures better future care for patients with rare diseases.

Glomerular diseases treated include but are not limited to:

  • IgA Nephropathy (IgAN)

  • IgA Vasculitis (Henoch Schönlein Purpura)

  • Membranous Nephropathy

  • Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
