Jerzy Szaflarski, M.D., Ph.D., has been appointed vice chair for Faculty Development for the UAB Department of Neurology, one of the university's largest clinical departments.

The department is deeply committed to the pursuit of excellence in clinical care, research, and education. As part of this commitment, the department provides career development opportunities for faculty members at all career stages.

“This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with department faculty, supporting them as they embark on and advance in their careers while pursuing excellence in their chosen fields,” says Szaflarski.

The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee a comprehensive array of faculty development activities for early-career, mid-career, and senior faculty members.

These initiatives will involve close collaboration with the UAB Institute for Leadership to create innovative leadership training opportunities and promote professionalism and well-being among faculty.
