Bio
Matthew Jarrell, M.D., MS was born and raised in northern Alabama and obtained his medical degree at the University of Alabama Heersink School of Medicine. Prior to his medical training, Dr. Jarrell obtained a bachelor’s in neuroscience as well as completed a master’s in biomedical sciences during that same time. He was drawn to the field by the combination of complex anatomy, technical precision and the opportunity to care for patients and families during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Matthew chose UAB for its high-volume clinical experience, strong resident culture and outstanding mentorship within the Department of Neurosurgery. Outside of medicine, he enjoys Formula 1, serving at church, working out, and playing chess.
