UAB endocrinology trainees with fellowship program director Amy Warriner, M.D., at the 2026 Endocrine Society meeting in Chicago.
Trainees under the mentorship of UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center faculty members in the UAB Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and Division of Pediatric Endocrinology presented their latest research at the Endocrine Society (ENDO 2026) meeting in Chicago, Illinois, June 13-16.
This year’s global conference on endocrinology research and clinical care attracted more than 7,000 attendees, showcased 2,500 research abstracts, and featured more than 200 sessions.
UAB General Endocrinology Fellowship Program fellows Sonia Alicea, M.D. (PGY4), Victor Moncada Castro, M.D. (PGY4), Javeria Naz, M.D. (PGY5), along with Jeevan Nammi, MBBS, a postdoctoral research fellow under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Fernando Bril, M.D., received ENDO 2026 Outstanding Abstract Awards. These $1,500 travel awards are granted to outstanding abstracts submitted by in-training and early-career members who have been accepted to present their research during the annual meeting.
UAB fellows were selected to give two oral presentations and 10 poster presentations during the meeting, representing a breadth of research interests from metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) to insulin resistance in adolescents.
