Sharon Noser is a curriculum coordinator for the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) team, where she has served for more than 13 years. Before joining UME, she spent four years in the UAB contracts office. Noser was nominated to the 2025–2026 cohort of Medical Education Unsung Heroes by Mike Belue, program director for UME.
In her role, Noser manages complex preclinical modules, ensuring all logistical and administrative details are completed accurately and on time. “When Sharon is organizing a complex student learning session, I have complete confidence that it will be executed flawlessly,” Belue said. “I watch this happen continuously year in and year out; the consistency is amazing.” Faculty members also highlight her effectiveness. Craig Powell, M.D., Ph.D., former neuroscience course director, described Noser as a “can-do” professional who makes complex tasks appear seamless, while Diane Morlote, M.D., hematology-oncology course director, noted that she improves documents and processes, enhancing accuracy and efficiency for everyone involved.
Beyond managing modules, Noser strengthens departmental operations through her institutional knowledge and proactive approach. She is a key resource for developing and refining workflows, resolving problems efficiently, and ensuring smooth curriculum delivery, even during challenges such as limited room availability. Her calm professionalism and supportive nature foster strong relationships with colleagues. “Sharon is impressive in her calm demeanor and the support that she gives to all those she works with. She is always smiling and never complains, and she is always a joy to be around and to work with. Her wisdom is infectious, and it is a blessing to be her colleague,” said Hussian Abdullatif, M.D., endocrine course co-director.
Away from the office, Noser is a dedicated Alabama football fan, takes pride in her yard, enjoys going out to dinner, and is an active and committed member of her church.
