UAB recently recognized 43 individuals for their years of service in the Department of Neurology, ranging from five years up to 30 years. The UAB and UAB Medicine Service Awards honor employees who have made a significant career commitment to UAB with recognition happening at every five-year milestone.
The Department of Neurology had seven individuals recognized for 20 or more years of service for 2025: Jill Saenz (35 years); Roy C. Martin, M.D., and Gwendolyn Williams (30 years); Khurram Bashir, M.D., Lawrence Ver Hoef, M.D., and Jennifer Mahaffey (25 years); and Natalia Filippova, Ph.D. (20 years).
“At UAB, our people are our most valuable asset," said David Standaert, M.D., Ph.D., professor and chair, John N. Whitaker Endowed Chair in the Department of Neurology. "It is great to see so many who have such a long-term connection to the Department of Neurology and UAB Medicine.”
