Saulat Sajjad Sheikh, M.B.B.S., assistant professor and surgical director of the liver transplant program in the UAB Division of Transplantation, has been selected to serve as a member of the core small group faculty for the 2026-2027 Harvard Macy Institute Program for Educators in Health Professions.
In this role, she will join a select group of faculty members who will help guide and mentor the next cohort of Harvard Macy Institute scholars throughout the year-long program. This selection recognizes Sheikh’s commitment to health professions education, mentorship, and faculty development, as well as her substantial contributions as an educator within academic medicine.
Through the core small group faculty cohort, Sheikh will facilitate all three of the program’s core small-group experiences: microteaching, project group, and journal forum. She will work closely with scholars as they develop educational projects, strengthen their mentorship skills, engage with educational scholarship, and apply new approaches within their own institutions. Sheikh’s faculty role will extend across the full 2026-2027 program. She will participate in the virtual program week in October 2026, engage with project groups through monthly continuity sessions, and travel to Boston for the program’s in-person week in May 2027.
