Lastly, the department continues to be highly dedicated to training and mentoring the next generation of clinician-researchers.
  • Education
One of our department’s greatest strengths is its training programs, particularly it’s residency and subspeciality fellowships (currently Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, and Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology). The residency is a top-ranked program, based on Doximity survey results, and the fellowship programs are highly competitive and attract candidates across the United States. The educational programs are well-known for the volume, diversity of cases, didactics and consistent, high level commitment to excellence to clinical care, quality and outcomes, and communication.

Numerous faculty and trainees have served as leaders for multiple professional societies including SGO, SMFM, AUGS, SGS, ASRM, SASGOG, ABOG, NIH (NICHD and NCI), CDC, and the WHO. In addition to serving all patients that come to UAB, there is a true dedication and commitment to raising the bar for women’s healthcare on a national and international level. The department strives to train and mentor the next generation of leaders in women’s healthcare.

Our department is committed to a balanced, inclusive environment, with an unwavering commitment to reducing health inequities, through clinical care, education, and research. We embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the department’s mission and vision.
