Curriculum for PGY-3 to PGY-5

After the conclusion of general pediatrics training during PGY-1 and PGY-2 years, 

PGY-3 (Adult Neurology Year)

*PGY-3 trainees have one half-day of child neurology continuity clinic at Children’s of Alabama each week.

*Vacation: Child Neurology residents in year 3 may take vacation at the approval of the Adult Neurology program director

PGY-4 (Child Neurology)

*PGY-4 trainees continue to serve his or her patients one half-day per week in the child neurology continuity clinic.

*Vacation: Child Neurology residents in their 4th year have 15 vacation days and 15 sick days per year to use at their discretion. All time off must be discussed with the Child Neurology program directors and all rotations/call/clinics must be covered. 

PGY-5 (Child Neurology)

*PGY-5 trainees continue to serve his or her patients one half-day per week in child neurology continuity clinic.

*Vacation: Child Neurology residents in their 5th year have 15 vacation days and 15 sick days per year to use at their discretion. All time off must be discussed with the Child Neurology program directors and all rotations/call/clinics must be covered. 

*Elective options include but are not limited to:

• Community pediatric neurology clinics

• Pediatric rehab medicine

• Genetics

• Pediatric rheumatology

• Pediatric neurosurgery

• Pediatric ophthalmology

• Pediatric palliative care

• Pediatric movement disorders

• Multi-speciality Clinics (TSC, NF, Rett Syndrome, MDA and CPODD)

• Child neurology clinics at Children’s South

• Research/QI

• Sleep Medicine

• ICU EEG
