Sarah Rutland, Ph.D., joined the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine in 2019 as a Scientist I. She took on the role of Research Consultant for the PPC in 2020. She received her Ph.D. in Medical Sociology from UAB in 2019. She has several years of experience researching the impact of social conditions and disparities on child and adolescent health. Her area of expertise is in examining the unmet healthcare needs of adolescents, particularly as they begin the transition out of pediatric care. She is excited to help PPC trainees develop necessary research skills that help professionals in all disciplines improve care and health outcomes for pulmonary patients.
