Theresa

Theresa Flint Rodgers has been employed by Children's of Alabama since 1994 as a nurse practitioner working with pediatric patients & families with chronic pulmonary diseases. She works within the inpatient and outpatient settings. 

Theresa Rodgers is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care and Acute Care and is also certified as an Asthma Educator.   She was an Item Writer for the Pharmacy Self Assessment Exams for the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) 2006 – 2011.  She was honored to be accepted as a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD) Guidelines working committee to help establish national guidelines for CF patients with diabetes.  She helped to author a white paper for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation entitled “The Role of the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Cystic Fibrosis Center Care Delivery”.   She has presented at the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference, the National Black Nurses Association’s Institute and Conference and NAPNAP National Conference and locally for American Lung Association.   She has participated in quality improvement at Children’s of Alabama which have lead to peer reviewed poster presentations.  In the past, she was a member of the Advisory Board for the Dual Option PNP to DNP Grant at UAB.

She has served as a mentor and preceptor for graduate students.  Beginning June 1, 2011, she became the nurse faculty for the Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC).  This a Maternal Child Health (MCH) grant that provides leadership opportunities for graduate students. 

She has maintained membership in several professional organizations which includes the following: Alabama State Nurses Association, Birmingham  Black Nurses’ Association, National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), Central Alabama Nurse Practitioner Association and American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
