The UAB emergency radiology section provides rapid, expert imaging interpretation for patients experiencing acute illness or traumatic injury.
Serving one of the nation's busiest Level I Trauma Centers, our emergency radiologists work closely with emergency medicine, trauma surgery, neurology, and other clinical teams to deliver timely diagnoses that guide critical treatment decisions when every second matters. The section provides 24/7, 365-day-a-year coverage and specializes in the interpretation of X-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MRI examinations for emergent and time-sensitive conditions.
CT imaging serves as a cornerstone of emergency care, helping identify conditions involving the brain, chest, abdomen, blood vessels, and traumatic injuries with exceptional speed and accuracy. As part of a leading academic medical center, the emergency radiology section is also dedicated to education and innovation, training residents and fellows in the fast-paced environment of emergency imaging while supporting advances in patient care and imaging technology. Through collaboration, expertise, and a commitment to excellence, our team provides around-the-clock imaging services that support the highest quality care for patients on some of their most challenging days.
