Gifts in Honor of William J. Koopman, MD
Goal: In recognition of Dr. Koopman’s outstanding leadership in the field of rheumatology, as signified by his being selected as the 2011 recipient of the ACR Presidential Gold Medal, the highest award that the American College of Rheumatology bestows in recognition of outstanding achievements in rheumatology over an entire career; and for being named the 2012 Laureate of the American College of Physicians (Alabama Chapter); and in appreciation for all he has done for the UAB Department of Medicine and the UAB Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology, the Division seeks gifts in Dr. Koopman’s honor. Funds will support the Division’s efforts in clinical, basic, and translational research by building the Koopman Professorship Fund.

The Graciela S. Alarcón, MD, MPH Endowment
Goal: To establish a fund in Dr. Alarcón's name, and to use it to help support lupus research and clinical care. Dr. Alarcón has been selected as the 2011 recipient of the Evelyn V. Hess Award. This award is bestowed annually by the Lupus Foundation of America in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field of lupus research, diagnosis, and treatment.
