Drs. Reddy and RoseDrs. Reddy (left) and Rose (right)Division of Surgical Oncology Associate Professor Sushanth Reddy, M.D., and Assistant Professor and Director of the UAB Pancreatobiliary Disease Center J. Bart Rose, M.D., MAS, FACS, have been awarded an experimental cancer therapeutics grant from the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center (OCCC) at UAB.

In particular, the O’Neal Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement and Experimental Therapeutics training program is furnishing the grant, which will fund Reddy and Rose’s project, “Using digital healthcare to eliminate pancreatic cancer survivorship disparities.”

The project was selected by a review committee, which included members of the OCCC Community Advisory Board. This committee identified Rose and Reddy’s proposed research study as meritorious and consistent with the center’s goal of supporting the translational research continuum from basic science to population health.

“This grant is key in helping us to develop digital healthcare avenues that can help decrease and eventually eliminate disparities that exist in pancreatic cancer survivorship,” said Reddy. “By making survivorship resources more accessible to everyone, we can work towards creating a more equitable healthcare experience for all of our pancreatic cancer patients.”
