Biography

Dr. Rachel Aliotta completed her residency in the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed advanced fellowship training in the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellow. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery and maintains an active role in the UAB Orthopaedic Hand & Upper Extremity Fellowship.

Originally from Buffalo NY, Dr. Aliotta received her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. From there she returned home to complete medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. She was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated with Research Honors.

Dr. Aliotta has presented her research at numerous regional and national conferences, and has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Her current research and practice interests include hand and upper extremity surgery, nerve surgery, breast and body reconstructive surgery, and aesthetic plastic surgery.
