Biography
Prasanth (Praz) Patcha, M.D., MEng, is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery at UAB. He performs a broad range of surgery and has a special interest in reconstructive microsurgery.
Dr. Patcha was born in Philadelphia and raised in Long Island, New York. He completed his BS and Master’s degrees in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University. He then completed his M.D. at State University of New York: Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. After completing his residency in General Surgery at State University of New York: Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital Center, he joined Medical College of Georgia for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency. He completed his Chief Resident year in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Dr. Patcha was then accepted to study with world renowned Plastic Surgeons, Professors Phillip Blondeel, M.D., Ph.D. and Koenraad Van Landuyt, M.D., Ph.D., at the University of Gent in Belgium with a focus on reconstructive microsurgery, lymphedema surgery, as well as aesthetic surgery.
Dr. Patcha holds Board Certifications from both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Dr. Patcha enjoys working with his patients to achieve their goals. He also actively participates in resident and medical student education. He has participated in surgical mission trips to Haiti, Belize and Honduras to help the underserved.
