A young girl in a witch hat creating halloween-themed arts and crafts.Enjoy a free, family-friendly afternoon of Halloween fun, creativity and art at ArtPlay’s Halloween Family Day on Oct 24. Put a creative spin on Halloween at ArtPlay’s Halloween Family Day on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 1-4 p.m. Families can step into an afternoon where costumes, storytelling and art come together for a celebration of creativity and imagination.

Inspired by Riel Nason’s “The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt,” this year’s event invites children to explore the story’s message of individuality through art. A special reading of the book will set the stage for activities that encourage children to use their imaginations and create something uniquely their own.

Families can look forward to:

  • A cozy story time featuring “The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt”
  • Hands-on art activities inspired by the children’s book
  • Music and games for families
  • Treats, without the tricks
  • Costumes encouraged for an extra dose of Halloween spirit

The event is free and open to families, making it an easy way to spend a fall afternoon creating, playing and celebrating together. Register to attend.

ArtPlay, part of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Center for the Arts, provides accessible, inspirational and transformative arts experiences for everyone.
